Oak Norton – If / Then Logic in the Book of Mormon
In programming, “if” statements are instructions that test if a condition is true and then take a specified action. You could call these the laws by which that program is governed.
In the Book of Mormon, there are 545 verses that contain the word if. Some of these contain multiple if statements outlining the conditions that must be satisfied to bring about a certain outcome.
The scriptures inform us that all blessings are predicated upon a law and when we obey that law, we may obtain the blessing (D&C 130:20-21). In other words, IF we live the law, THEN we obtain the blessing.
In this presentation I will present an analysis of scriptural logic from the Book of Mormon and what it promises us.

Is your scripture study frustrated by a lack of powerful search options? No meaningful way to link notes to verses and find them again? Can’t see your notes while reading the scriptures? Poor navigation interface? No good way to save collections of verses and comment on them?
Re-imagining things is powerful. What could something be if you removed the constraints that limit our thinking about “how it’s always been”?
Fifteen years ago I transformed my scripture study by creating my own digital tool to study the scriptures with. Now I’m releasing a public version of the software and in this demonstration, I’ll show you how Scripture Notes is the most powerful scripture study journaling program ever created and it’s just getting started. Now you can learn in ways that weren’t possible before using a program that works the way your brain works, visually.
Scripture Notes makes it possible to search the scriptures in-depth and then save your thoughts and revelation, mission notes, create personalized collections of verses with master notes, add quotes, and easily retrieve everything with powerful search features.
Scripture Notes will fundamentally change the way you study and allow you to develop a deeper and richer understanding of the scriptures. Once you try Scripture Notes you’ll never be satisfied with another scripture study tool.
